The earliest secure records date from 1427, when Archbishop Pietro Spano (1422-1448) enlarged the Episcope.
Restoration was carried out between 1644 and 1652, giving the complex the appearance it essentially retains today.
The building is connected to the Seminary, opened in 1593 for the purpose of instructing and educating young men who intended to dedicate themselves to the priesthood.
The Seminary’s current forms date from the first half of the 19th century. Inside the two buildings are interesting architecture and valuable works of art.
