The building dates back to the last decade of the 19th century. Originally, formerly the property of the Tinti family, it was in the fascist period, the headquarters of the fascio. Located in the center of town, it shows some typical elements of Campidanese house architecture such as the large inner courtyard. A bunker is located within the property’s courtyard, evidence of the building’s role as an air raid shelter during World War II. Later, the blockhouse was used by the city administration as a storage facility for registry office files. The very large size of the building favored its use as the Cima State Middle School during the 1970s. In 2010, on the occasion of the presentation of an exhibition on Cesare Cabras and following renovation by the City Administration, the building was inaugurated under its current name of the House of Culture.
