The building, the work of engineer Giovanni Gerardi, was commissioned by the Consortium, which was established in 1893 on the initiative of a group of skilled artisans from Cantù, to provide a large and qualified space for the growing and increasingly popular Cantù furniture production.
King Victor Emmanuel III himself laid the foundation stone, on May 28, 1927.
In 1955, the Consortium, at the height of its development, gave birth to a new exhibition venue “Permanente Mobili” (1955-1957).
It has always been and has remained an important moment of aggregation for its members, useful for the comparison and exchange of experiences and knowledge that have contributed to the affirmation of Cantù furniture throughout the world.
