The Municipal Theater of Ferrara was built between 1790 and 1797, the result of collaborations between
different architects and artists: the result is a building in which sobriety and purity of lines
harmonize well with the neighboring buildings.
Inside the theater, then, one appreciates the space of the stage and
the acoustics, both excellently studied, but also the functionality of the furnishings and the elegance
of the decorations, executed by Francesco Migliari in 1850.
The Teatro Comunale is one of the highest
examples of “Italian-style” theater.
The Ridotto is a set of rooms that from early on was used as a parallel venue
to theatrical activities: from 1802 it began to house the Casino Society (later the Union Circle).
The
rooms, with fine nineteenth-century decorations, are still used as venues for events,
conferences, small concerts, literary awards.
