The nuraghe of Goni rises on the slopes of Mount Moretta and dominates the village of Goni with its solitary figure, surrounded by a dense forest. The monument can be easily reached thanks to a short, specially made path, which begins on the outskirts of the village. The structure was described by Alberto La Marmora, who was attracted to the area by the not far away fossil outcrop of “Su Peinconi.” The nuraghe presents a single-tower structure and is about 9 meters high, with a base diameter of 10 meters, unusually well preserved, with the masonry made of limestone blocks, with a perfect tholos vault easily observed and just under 8 meters high. Three large niches can be observed inside, while no trace remains of a staircase (probably wooden) that allowed to climb to the terrace through a narrow passage. Definitely interesting is the view from the base of the monument, which looks out toward the Gerrei with the Seven Brothers massif and Mount Genis, while to the north one appreciates Lake Mulargia.
