Mediator between Pavese, trained in the city, and the reality of the Langhe, was Nuto (born Pinolo Scaglione). From his stories Pavese draws heavily, reinvents and transfigures. Nuto’s house-workshop was an open window to the world, everyone was obliged to walk past it, and for each person the speech was tailored. Today Nuto’s House has become an interactive museum, through which one can experience the emotions of an ancient trade, that of the carpenter, of a passion, that for music, and of a friendship, that between him and Pavese.
