The buildings abutted the southern edge of the Tortolì pond.
Used by fishermen since the early twentieth century they served and still serve as tool storage and staging point.
By the end of the nineteenth century there were already the first tenements in the fishpond, both wooden and masonry made with the materials of the time.
As the fishermen’s activity took more and more space within the lagoon the blockhouses were built new to allow the fishermen a dignified stay at their place of work.
