The present building dates back to the 18th century but was certainly built on the ruins of an even older church.
Since the early decades of the last century the building no longer hosts religious services and has long been used by the community as a social gathering place.
It is now undergoing major renovations aimed at recovering its original design.
A kiln was specially set up for the construction of this church: this was located in a place where there was “good” soil for firing bricks, near the Badie Woods from which the wood that fed it came.
