The archaeological interest of the site of Santa Anastasia had been known since the beginning of the century thanks to excavation investigations carried out since 1913 by Antonio Taramelli, when a Nuragic well temple (Sa funtana de is dolus) was brought to light. Excavations in the 1980s revealed the remains of a vast Nuragic settlement of civil and religious character.
