The small church, recently restored and reopened for worship, stands on the west side of the town.
The typology of the building, its small size, the modesty of the gabled façade, the single-nave floor plan configuration with a very simple rear apse, and the use of “poor” masonry, built of lava stone and mortar, lead one to think of a country church built on the edge of the settlement in a time before the Franciscan monastery.
