In 2009, during construction work in Piazza San Lussorio in Arbus, a multi-layered archaeological site was recognized, consisting of a thermal building and necropolis from the Imperial Roman period, followed by a cemetery and church from the Spanish period, dating back to at least the 17th century.
The modern settlement rests on an artificial terracing made of imperial Roman building material, superimposed on a number of preexisting tombs, including one in the Capuchin style.
