Vernaccia di Oristano Winery

Cantina della Vernaccia di Oristano, in the locality of Il Rimedio, since 1953 represents, with its production of vernaccia and wines, one of the main production realities of the Oristano territory. The Cantina, founded with the intention of consecrating and enhancing the vernaccia of Oristano on a national and international level, is renowned, in addition to the numerous awards and special mentions it has earned over the course of more than fifty years of production, for the valuable presence on its premises of works by Oristano artist Carlo Contini, known as Lelletto. The artist, who participated in the Rome Biennial Exhibition in 1921 and opened his workshop in Venice in 1925, participated in numerous competitions and exhibitions, representing, in the 1940s, one of the most creative artists of expressionism and neorealism in Sardinia and beyond. Having returned to his hometown and engaged in his teaching activities at the Art Institute, currently named after him, Carlo Contini made five large canvases for the winery, depicting themes from Arborea ‘s Judicial history and inspired by some of the articles of the Carta de Logu d’Arborea concerning the importance of agriculture in our territory since those distant centuries. An appreciated ceramist, exceptional fruit bowls overflowing with grapes made with his Art School students can also be seen in the cellar premises.
