The warehouse on Via Pierozzi houses materials from the investigations that the Capitoline Superintendence oversaw in the 1990s as part of the “Eastern Directional System” project, an enormous urban planning intervention that aimed to decongest the center and relocate in the Roman suburbs several buildings with executive functions.
This project entailed a series of excavations and reconnaissance of preventive archaeology that allowed us to document the different phases of occupation of the area, especially between Centocelle and Torre Spaccata: from small rectangular farms of the 6th century B.C. to luxurious villas of the imperial age.
