Cork Museum

We Calangians are largely proud of this museum because it is a space we have wanted for so long: we had so much to make known about our history and there is still so much more to divulge. So many people still do not know how a cork is created, how much effort and sacrifice goes into the making of such a seemingly insignificant object and yet so important for the preservation of wine. The next time you open a bottle with a cork, think about the story behind it. It is that story that the Calangianus Cork Museum wants to tell you, the story of men who spent their lives in this work, investing, making sacrifices, making the most of what nature offered them. We also consider, that never like today, cork must be protected, because it is a material that has considerable merits for use in enology and can be reused in different ways, since it is easily recyclable being a natural and biodegradable material. Cork was one of the first natural materials used by man: even the Nuragic people used it as flooring, to create handles of some tools or the details of some objects. We are waiting for you to find out many more interesting facts about cork.
