The parish church is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of Carmel, Patroness of Pimentel, built in the second half of the 17th century, as attested by the date of 1670 engraved on the bell, on a pre-existing church built in 1580. In 1703 the church was enlarged. The plan, with longitudinal development, is covered by a barrel vault, punctuated by round arches. It has a single nave overlooked by a pulpit dated 1923 and eight chapels. The raised square chancel is bordered by a marble balustrade and is covered by a dome, topped by a lantern, which rests on an octagonal drum. The high altar, dated 1818, of polychrome marble houses in its niche a beautiful wooden triptych of Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the prophet Elijah on the left and St. Simon Stock on the right, a fine example of sacred art from the Spanish period. Decorating the altar are six wooden candelabra covered in gold leaf dating from the late 1800s. The baptismal font dated 1817 is of the same workmanship as the high altar. Inside the church is a precious organ built in Cagliari in the second half of the 1800s by the firm “Giovanni Borea” of San Remo. In the late 1800s and early 1900s two modifications were made to the cabinet by the firm of G.
Piras and the Piras brothers of Pimentel, respectively. Behind the high altar, along the apse wall, a complex of wooden stalls once used for the choir makes a fine display.
In the center of the facade is a rectangular portal and a rose window with polychrome glass. The bell tower with pyramidal roof and square plan has undergone changes over time: in 1963 it was renovated and elevated, and in 1988 it was modified by reducing its height.
